Paris is due to name a small plaza after Diana, Princess of Wales, at the site of the car crash that killed the British royal 22 years ago.
A golden flame monument, a replica of the one atop the Statue of Liberty, already sits at the site above the Alma Tunnel and has served as a makeshift memorial since the fatal accident.
The square was due to be named after opera singer Maria Callas and inaugurated in September 1997 - but following the death of Diana on August 31, the ceremony was never carried out.

Instead, Avenue Georges Mandel in the 16th Arrondissement was named after the signer, which officials said is a fitting tribute.
Since the flame statue has already been adopted as a memorial to the princess, city hall officials said it was only proper to name the square after her.
The name change will also recognise Diana as 'one of the most famous women in the world at the end of the twentieth century' and 'an emblematic figure of the world's humanitarian causes.'
