Major Rahul Singh cremated with full military honours

JAIPUR: The mortal remains of Major Rahul Singh, who suffered a severe chest pain while leading a patrol in Machhil Sector on Tuesday, and later succumbed to his medical condition was flown to his native village Gunsara in Bharatpur district where he was laid to rest with full military honours. The officer was leading a patrol in treacherous mountainous terrain along the Line of Control in Machhil Sector of Northern Kashmir.
“Major Rahul Singh suffered severe chest pain during the patrolling and was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital. He later succumbed to his medical condition while undergoing treatment,” said an Army statement. The 32-year-old Singh had joined the army in 2013 and was commissioned into the Army Service Corps (ASC) after completing his college education from Bangalore. His elder brother is also in the army.

His untimely demise has left the family in a state of shock and the bereaved father Ramveer Singh told TOI, “He never suffered from any heart ailment and we do know how suddenly he got chest pains. His death has left a void.”
The Major had gotten engaged in February with the wedding to be held next year. “Last he came on leave was in February when everything was finalised, and engagement held. The wedding was scheduled for January next year,” added the father. Following the news of his death, many political leaders in the state including CM Ashok Gehlot and deputy CM Sachin Pilot also offered their condolences.
