32-year-old held for 15 house break-ins

THANE: A 32-year-old man was aressted for a series of house break-ins in the city and Mumbai from Majiwada petrol pump on Thursday. The crime branch officials also recovered stolen booty worth Rs 2 lakh from him.
PSI Shivraj Bendre had received a tip-off that the accused, Dinesh Yadav, a resident of Dahanubaug in Nallasopara, was going to come to near the petrol pump. The cops laid a trap and arrested him. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was involved in 15 house break-ins, including two cases in Mumbai.
Peliminary investigations revealed that he was involved in three cases one each in Kopri, Vartak Nagar and Sri Nagar of Thane city. The cops have registered a case under Sections 454 and 457 and other sections of the IPC. There are also 10 cases registered with the Vartak Nagar and Sri Nagar police.

“The accused, along with his aides, used to keep a recee various locations. When he would realise that a flat is empty, he would rob the house in just 10 to 15 minutes,” said Jairaj Ranavare, senior inspector of crime branch unit-5.
This accused was wanted in two cases registered with the Goregaon police as well. The police have recovered stolen booty consisting of 76 gms gold ornaments worth Rs 2.28 lakh and cash of Rs 15,000, Bendre said. The accused is a history-sheeter and has over 25 cases registered against him in various parts of Thane and Mumbai.
