Mr Prahlad Singh Patel, who took the oaths of office and secrecy as Minister of State in the Narendra Modi regime on Thursday, represents Damoh in the Lok Sabha as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member.
This is his second tenure as Union Minister of State, fifth term as lower house Member and second consecutive time he is representing Damoh.
He was first elected to the House of the People in 1989; from 1990-91 he was member, Standing Committee on Food and Civil Supplies, member, Consultative Committee, Agriculture Ministry; 1996 re-elected to the Lok Sabha, whip, BJP Parliamentary Party, lower house, member, Standing Committee on Urban and Rural Development, member, Committee of Privileges, member, Consultative Committee, Agriculture Ministry; 1999 re-elected to the House of the People; 1999-00 member, Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests, member, Committee on Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions; 2000-03 member, Consultative Committee, Mines and Minerals Ministry; on May 24, 2003 he was elevated as minister of state, Coal; 2011-14 president, Bharatiya Janata Mazdoor Mahasangh and Bharatiya Janata Mazdoor Morcha; 2014 re-elected to the Lok Sabha; August 14, 2014 onward Member, Committee on Public Undertakings; September 1, 2014 onward Member, Committee on Government Assurances, Member, Standing Committee on Rural Development, Member, Executive Council of VV Giri National Labour Institute and Member, Consultative Committee, Labour and Employment Ministry, official sources said.
