Readers are happier people in general revealed a new global survey which was conducted in 13 countries, including India. According to it, 71 percent of readers who read weekly reported feeling happier, as compared to 55 percent of other readers.
The study was conducted by Kelton Global on 27,305 people of age 18+, in 13 countries: United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Australia, India, China, and Japan.
Interestingly, the survey also highlighted how reading affects one's relationships-- with friends and their partners. It concluded that reading more often can help people in improving their connections with others by having meaningful and deeper conversations. Eighty percent participants said that reading helped them improve their relationships with others, while 81 percent people agreed that they want to discuss about what they read with others.
In fact, 65 percent of the global participants agreed that reading is a major turn on for them. While 41 percent of couples said that one of the things which made them fall in love with their partner was discussing books!
And some readers revealed that the literacy standards of their partner can even be a deal-breaker for them. According to the survey, 30 percent participants said that they would question and judge their romantic relationship based on the kind of books or genre their partner would choose; 29 percent participants said that they would rethink about their relationship if they were with a non-reader partner.
Another positive outcome of the survey is that, as high as 45 percent of participants across the world said that they wanted to read more this year. If you too have a similar personal goal, then
