‘Water and underground drainage connections will be cut if apartment residents do not segregate waste’

Two contractors were fined ₹50,000 each for not properly barricading the ongoing work pertaining the underground electric cables on Wednesday.

Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan, during his morning visit to Krishnanagar and Maharanipeta in the Ward 20, found the lapses, resulting in the punitive action.

He also instructed the officials to impose a fine of ₹5,000 on a person for dumping garbage in a vacant site near Krishna Hospital.

Sanitary inspector suspended

Meanwhile, Mr. Hari Narayanan expressed displeasure over absence of dustbins at several apartments in the area. “If apartment residents fails to segregate waste, water and underground drainage connection should be cut and any lapses in supervision will not be tolerated,” he said and suspended the sanitary inspector of Ward 20.

The Municipal Commissioner also enquired about the disposal of biowaste by the hospitals in the area. The road from the Zilla Parishad to Collector’s Office should be improved, he said.

Zonal Commissioner Chittibabu, AMO(H) Sudhakar and other officials accompanied Mr. Hari Narayanan during his visit.
