SUV runs over five-year-old girl

CHANDIGARH: A five-year-old girl was crushed under the wheels of SUV , while she was crossing road at near the Shasti Nagar, Mani Majra on Wednesday morning.
IT park police arrested the accused driver and later he was released on bail. Police told that deceased has been identified as Jhanvi, resident of Mani Majra.
Police told that they received an information from GMCH-32 that a girl was brought dead by the person. On this information, cops from IT park police reached the hospital.
During investigation , it came to light that Jhanvi was hit by the driver of Toyota Fortuner near light the traffic signal point in Shastri nagar , when she was crossing the road along with other children at around 11 am.
She got injured and SUV driver rushed her to GMCH-32 in his car and doctors declared her brought dead. Police kept her body at mortuary for autopsy. Post mortem would be conducted on Thursday.
Later, IT park police at Mani Majra registered a case against 48-year-old-Neeraj Sahni , a , resident of sector -5 , Panchkula under the relevant sections of IPC and arrested him. Police later told that Neeraj was going sector 17, when he allegedly hit the girl.
