BJP national president Amit Shah took oath as a cabinet minister in the new government on Thursday. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by the President Ram Nath Kovind. Around 6000 guests, including heads of the BIMSTEC nations, attended the swearing-in ceremony. Governors, chief ministers of BJP ruled states were present on the occasion. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh were present. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy also attended the ceremony.
