One more in police net for using fake number plate on stolen scooter

CHANDIGARH: The crime branch of the UT police has arrested another person for allegedly using a fake registration number plate on a stolen scooter. The accused was arrested from near the new OPD gate of the PGI on Tuesday.
This is the fourth person who has been arrested for using fake number plate on stolen vehicles.
The accused has been identified as Harjeet Singh, a resident of Kharar, Mohali.
The crime branch team had set up a check post near the PGI, Sector 12, on Tuesday. When the cops stopped the accused and asked him to show documents of his Activa scooter, he started making excuses and could not produce the papers.
The police checked the registration number of the scooter on a mobile app and it was found to be fake. Later, the police found that the scooter was stolen from Budanpur, Panchkula.
The police said the accused was a drug addict and in a need to purchase drugs, he committed the crime. The police seized the scooter and arrested the accused.
He was produced before a local court which sent him in 14-day judicial custody.
On May 27, the crime branch team had arrested Karan Kumar while he was riding on a stolen scooter with a fake registration number plate from near the over bridge in Sector 11/15.

Sector 34 police arrested Harwinder Singh of Mauli Jagran village on May 26 from a check post near the Civil Hospital, Sector 45, while he was riding on a stolen sctoor with fake registration number plate. The accused had stolen it from Phase 2, Industrial Area, Panchkula.
On May 25, UT police arrested Manpreet Singh, a resident of Sector 38, on May 25, for riding on a stolen car with fake registration number plate from Sector 39/40. The vehicle was stolen from Sector 19.
