Special sub-jail at Palakkad elevated

The State Cabinet which met here on Wednesday decided to appoint five members to the State Food Commission set up to implement the National Food Security Act.

The commission will have B.Rajendran and K.Dileepkumar as members in the general category, P.Vasantham as woman member, V.Ramesan as member in the SC category and M.Vijayalakshmi in the ST category.

The meeting approved a draft Bill proposing amendments to the Guruvayur Devaswom Act 1978 to allow the chairman and members of the Devaswom to draw honorarium and sitting fees. It also sanctioned the elevation of the Special sub-jail, Palakkad, as District Jail and decided to relocate it to a new building constructed at Malampuzha.

Allocated

The Cabinet allocated ₹50 lakh from the CM’s Disaster Relief Fund to prepare 50 cents in the Mulayam village, Thrissur, for a housing project to rehabilitate flood affected families.

The Faizal and Shabna Foundation has agreed to fund the construction of 16 houses at the site.
