The massive exercise of re-verification of the failed students in Intermediate is delaying the declaration of Telangana EAMCET results.
Initially, officials were hopeful of finalising the results by May last week but now the results are likely to be given on June 3 or 4. The Intermediate re-verification results have not yet reached the EAMCET Convenor and the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has assured the EAMCET Committee that the data list will land there within two days.
The TS-EAMCET Convenor N. Yadaiah said that after receiving the data from the BIE, they would need at least three days for processing the final results taking into account 25% weightage for calculating the rank.
“We are ready from our end and are waiting for the data from the BIE,” Mr. Yadaiah said.
However, the TSCHE Chairman T. Papi Reddy said the delay would not impact the counselling process and it would be on time like last year. “Admissions have to be completed by July 30 and we are on right track,” he said.
The BIE released the reverification results on Monday after checking all the scripts of 3.82 lakh students who failed in the exam. Now they are busy uploading the scanned copies of the candidates online as per the directions of the High Court. Though EAMCET officials received the data of original results where 5.60 students cleared among the 9.32 lakhs who appeared, the re-verification has shown that another 1,137 students were declared passed.
“We want to be doubly sure before processing the results on the actual number of students who cleared the exam after reverification,” Prof. Yadaiah said.
The Telangana EAMCET was held online from May 3 to 9 with separate exams for engineering, and medical and agriculture streams. About 68,550 candidates tested their luck for entry into engineering colleges in Telangana.
