Senator mitch mcconnell is getting criticism today... from democrats in kentucky and across america.

In 2016.... senator mcconnell refused to hold hearings on judge merrick garland, president obama's choice for a supreme court vacancy.

Mcconnell argued since it was a presidential election year... the senate should wait until after the election to fill the seat.

Yesterday.... speaking in paducah... mcconnell said the senate 'should' fill a supreme court vacancy.... if one occurs in 2020... which is also a presidential election year.

Democrats are blasting him over the contradiction.

The kentucky democratic party put out a statement.... saying, in part.... " mcconnell holds no beliefs sacred they change as it becomes politically convenient.

He's the worst kind of politician: a self-serving hypocrite."
