Noida: Noida and Greater Noida authorities have approved the construction of a road that will connect LG Chowk in Greater Noida with the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway near sectors 146 and 147. Once the new stretch becomes operational, residents from parts of Greater Noida would have to cover 1.3 km to reach the expressway, instead of travelling for 10 km.
The new road will also help decongest LG Chowk and Pari Chowk, the main intersection between the two cities. Pari Chowk sees heavy traffic, especially during the morning and evening peak hours, as most vehicles from Greater Noida use the intersection to go towards Noida and Delhi.
The new four-lane road will include a bridge over the Hindon river and an underpass near the expressway. It is expected to be ready in two years. Tenders would be floated in a few weeks. The cost of the project would be shared equally by the Noida and Greater Noida authorities.
“It is a joint project, the work and cost for which will be shared by both the authorities. After the new road is made, it will take less than five minutes for a commuter to reach the expressway from Greater Noida. Now, it takes at least 30 minutes,” said S P Singh, senior manager at Noida Authority. He added that about three hectares would have to be acquired in Badauni Bangar village in Noida to construct the road. Acquisition might happen in parts of Greater Noida as well.
