GOP lawmaker stands by his call for impeachment

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) U.S. REPRESENTATIVE JUSTIN AMASH SAYING: "I'm confident if you read Volume 2..

You'll be appalled by much of the conduct..

And I was appalled by much of the conduct." The only GOP Congressman to call for U.S. President Donald Trump to be removed from office, stood by his remarks in his first town hall since calling for impeachment.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) U.S. REPRESENTATIVE JUSTIN AMASH SAYING: "We cant let conduct like that go unchecked" Representative Justin Amash clashed with Trump earlier this month after he declared on Twitter that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report outlines impeachable conduct by the President.

He reiterated his support for impeachment Tuesday… which was welcomed by much of the crowd in his Michigan district.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) MARGE FRIAR, GRAND RAPIDS VOTER: "We have in this our own district here… this one principled man..

Willing to take stand." But not everyone was happy with Amash.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) UNKNOWN PERSON SAYING: "I've been your supporter since you started running for congress… and I can't even tell you… how disappointed I am." Even Trump's taken notice of the congressman's criticisms. (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SAYING: "He probably wants to run for some other office.

I don't think he'll do very well.

He's been a loser for a long time.

Rarely votes for Republicans, and personally I think he's not much." House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also went after him.

(SOUNDBITE (ENGLISH) HOUSE MINORITY LEADER KEVIN MCCARTHY SAYING: "I don't think he's out of step with us.

He's out of step with Americans." At the town Hall, Amash took a swipe at McCarthy - saying quote "I read the Mueller report.

I'm sure he didn't."
