AHMEDABAD: A 60-year-old man, a resident of Thaltej, on Tuesday filed a complaint of assault against his 23-year-old son who had beaten him following a dispute over the latter’s torn shirt.
Suren Trivedi, a resident of Ajanta Elora Apartment in Thaltej and a typist with Gujarat high court, accused his son, Rushi, of beating him and his wife on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred when Rushi was going out somewhere and in a hurry his shirt got stuck in a door of the house and got torn.
Rushi was so irritated with this that he began talking about breaking the door. The family members tried to pacify him but he began searching for some tools to break the door. When Suren asked him that he should not talk like that and stop thinking about breaking the door, Rushi started abusing him.

When Suren asked him not to utter abusive words, Rushi suddenly punched him on his lips after which the elderly man began bleeding. When Suren’s wife, Yogini, tried to intervene, Rushi thrashed her badly. After this, he began threatening the elderly couple to kill them if they speak against him. Suren approached Sola High Court police and filed a complaint under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (b) (for uttering obscene words) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation).
Sola High Court Police registered statements of the complainant and witnesses of the case and began an inquiry.
