NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has written to all political parties seeking details of donations received by them through electoral bonds as well as particulars of the donors against each bond. This is in line with an interim order passed by the Supreme Court in the
ADR Vs Union of India case.
All the details sought as per the SC directions would have to be submitted by the political parties in a sealed cover to
EC latest by May 30.
The May 21 communication sent by EC to the
general secretaries/treasurers of the political parties, asks the parties which have received donations through electoral bonds to provide details of such donation along with particulars of the donors, the amount of each such bond and the full particulars of the credit received against each bond, namely, the particulars of the bank account to which the amount has been credited and the date of each such credit.
“After we get the details from the parties, we will submit the details to the hon’ble Supreme Court as they direct,” Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora told TOI on Wednesday.
