Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday convened a meeting of senior officers of urban local bodies department and public representatives to review the progress of various development works and schemes under Gurugram and
Faridabad and Karnal Smart City and 18 cities under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (
Amrut), Haryana .
Stating that there was no dearth of funds with the state government for development works, Khattar said that in view of the growing interest among youth and women in open gyms set up by the government in parks, more should be set up in cities. Besides, the concept of e-rickshaw should be promoted besides the city bus service, he added. He said the urban local bodies department would arrange a loan facility for beneficiaries through banks for promoting e-rickshaws.
The chief minister said that apart from the 13-member ward level committee constituted for the implementation of development works in cities, a committee comprising local councillor and two-three other members should formed to audit the expenditure after completion of projects. He directed that meeting of these members should be convened once in every two months.
Khattar said 45 projects were being implemented for Faridabad city at a cost of Rs 2,560.30 crores, out of which two Rs 2.6 crores projects has been completed while work on 15 others was in progress. Besides, tenders have been uploaded for two projects worth Rs 30.64 crores. Detailed project reports (DPRs) of two projects costing Rs. 504.61 crores have been approved and of 10 other projects (costing Rs 241.23 crores) were in the final stage of completion, he added. DPRs of two projects worth Rs 32.26 crores were being prepared and feasibility study of 12 projects costing Rs 1,153.09 crores was under progress.
Among those who attended the meeting were urban local bodies minister Kavita Jain, minister of state for cooperation Manish Grover, industries minister Vipul Goel, MLAs Nagender Bhadana, Seema Trikha and Moolchand Sharma. The mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor and MC commissioners were also present in the meeting.
