Man held with 90-kg poppy husk

LUDHIANA: The anti-narcotics cell of Ludhiana rural police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered 90 kg poppy husk from his possession at Kothe Kanjoora village. The accused has been identified as Lachhman Singh.
The police said a patrolling team was on duty at Sudhar area on Sunday evening when they got a tip-off about a consignment being smuggled. The team soon set up a check-post in Kothe Kanjoora area and stopped a black colour Scorpio which the accused was driving. During the search, the cops found three bags of poppy husk which costed between Rs 6.3 lakh and Rs 7.2 lakh in the market.
