Jalandhar, May 28, 2019: Dr.Arjinder Singh, Principal, Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar attended a two- week workshop on developing e-content at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. It was organized by School of Education under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching. The workshop aimed at training teachers to develop e- content using various information technology(IT) tools. The resource persons were from NCERT and NIEPA. Total 36 educators from different colleges of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan participated in the workshop.
In an interview with Principal Dr.Arjinder Singh, he explained that all participants were given hand-on training to write scripts and story board. The participants prepared a script in their subject area and recorded lectures in the studio. He further added that e-content is the need of the hour. It is not an attempt to replace traditional teaching rather it is an act to supplement it. The teaching learning process is not sufficient for present day student’s needs. The Education system has to make a shift from traditional to flipped classrooms. In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home while engaging in concepts in the classroom under the guidance of a mentor. He emphasized the usage of IT tools in education and assured that Innocent Hearts College of Education will be implementing e-content delivery to the student-teachers from the upcoming session.
