Cyclists slam a driver for 'brake checking' and causing a crash – but not everyone thinks the motorist was in the wrong

  • A video, filmed in Victoria, showed a ute driver stuck behind six cyclists
  • The driver overtook the cyclists before slowing down and turning into a driveway
  • Four cyclists then collided and crashed to the ground, and blame the motorist

A driver has been slammed by cyclists for 'brake checking' and causing a group of riders to crash into one another.

The video, filmed in Victoria, showed the Toyota LandCruiser ute driving behind six cyclists as they travelled down a two-lane road.

After overtaking, the motorist then stopped suddenly to turn into a driveway, causing two of the cyclists to crash and fall.

One of the cyclist's shouted to warn the others about what was happening ahead.

Despite the warning the cyclists, who were travelling in pairs, still collided with one another and crashed to the ground.

Facebook users have slammed the driver for 'brake checking' the cyclists.

'Dangerous driving by the d*** in the ute,' one person commented.

'Ute 4WD driver could have waited five seconds to turn behind the riders instead of overtaking braking and then turning,' another said.

A third commented: 'Driver was being malicious! That's what the actions suggest.'

However some people defended the driver and took aim at the cyclists.

'Funny how the first two folks on bikes don't come undone but the second pair do? Yes the driver was impatient, but no-one contacted the vehicle,' one person commented.

Another said: 'Perhaps single file cycling could have been a way of avoiding the impatient car driver. You cyclists bring this type of driving on yourselves.'
