Twitter erupted in a big debate after actor Payal Rohatgi glorified the banned tradition of Sati and called social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy a “traitor” who defamed the tradition. The debate blew up after the actor tweeted a video, “Truth behind Sati Pratha in India” and called Raja Ram Mohan Roy a ‘traitor’. Payal called Raja Ram Mohan Roy a “chamcha [lackey]” of the British, who, she said, “used him to defame the Sati tradition”. This, however, has not gone down well with people. Twitterati weighed in on the role of the social reformer in aiding in the abolishment of the Sati, with some people criticising him. Payal was even trolled for calling Raja Ram Mohan Roy a “traitor” and a “chamcha to the Britishers”.

Constable from Karnataka transforms lathi into flute, flaunts skill in viral video
Chandrakanth, a constable from Hubballi Rural Police station, has transformed his lathi (a defence stick used by the police officials) into a flute. The policeman has also recorded a video of him belting out a tune from one of the famous movies of veteran Sandalwood actor Dr Rajkumar, using the self-fashioned instrument. The video of the constable playing the flute (lathi) has gone viral on social media. Many opined that this innovation has made people believe that “the lathi does not only cause pain but also cures one’s pain when they listen its melodious tune.”
