Allahabad: A 45-year-old woman was brutally killed and her daughter was injured by five-six armed and masked assailants on Tuesday.
The mother-daughter duo was sleeping outside their house when the killers attacked them.
The incident was reported from Kasia Paschim village under Kokhraj police station of Kaushambi district early on Tuesday.
An FIR has been registered against three persons. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
After being informed by the villagers, the senior police officers including SP (Kaushambi) Pradip Gupta along with sleuths of crime branch and forensic experts reached the spot and carried out investigations.
Deputy SP (Sirathu) Rambir Singh told TOI, “Two police teams have been constituted to solve the crime. The unidentified assailants barged into the house of Girja Shankar, a farmer, around 3 am and killed his wife Kusuma Devi. The killers also attacked the slain woman’s daughter Wahini (20) and injured her critically. She has been admitted at a hospital in Allahabad for treatment. Her condition is critical.”
Police, however, said that some words were scribbled near the cot with chalk where Kusuma’s body was found. Forensic experts are trying to find the message behind the scribbled words.
According to the police, the duo were attacked with sharp-edged weapons while they were fast asleep in the verandah of the house (located outside the house). Kusuma’s husband, who was sleeping in another room inside the house, woke up and came out after hearing the loud noises of nearby locals and others for help. By then, the assailants managed to escape from the scene unchallenged.
