MUMBAI: A 37-year-old man has been arrested from
Andheri (east) on Monday for allegedly demanding Rs 25,000 from a
hotelier and threatening to bump him off if he did not pay up.
The arrested man, Sachin Babu Shankar alias Mohite, had been calling up the hotelier and demanded that he pay up the money, said officials of unit 10 of the crime branch of Mumbai police, adding that A trap was laid and Shankar arrested from Marol. He has been booked for issuing
threats and to extort money.
The police said that the accused has previous offences registered against him.
