BBC’s Top Gear has released the first proper trailer for the upcoming 27th season, giving us a second look at the show’s new blood and their upcoming adventures.
Back in October last year, Top Gear had announced comedian Paddy McGuinness and former cricketer Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff will be the new presenters of the show next to Chris Harris.
Paddy McGuinness is an English comedian, best known from hosting UK TV shows like Take Me Out, while Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff is a former England cricket captain and current broadcaster.
Matt LeBlanc departed the show after the end of season 26 due to the “increased time commitment and extensive travel required” while Rory Reid stepped down from his post to front the spin-off Extra Gear.
The new 60-second trailer reveals a number or feature races taking place from Ethiopia to Wales and from the Borneo jungle to Iceland, using a wide number of vehicles, both unusual (like a hearse) and popular classics (like the original Mini).
We also get a first glimpse of the Stig’s family as well as what it looks like driving while getting electrocuted. The presenting trio appears to have good chemistry on screen but we best reserve judgement once the show goes on air.
BBC hasn’t announced yet an exact date for the series premiere but Top Gear promises to hit our screens “sooner than you think”.
