Heatstroke claims one life in Rajkot, yellow alert declared

According to weather officials, the soaring temperature is expected to continue till June 3.
RAJKOT: The persisting heat wave claimed one life in Rajkot on Tuesday. According to police, a 45-year-old man, Falgun Vora fainted on 150 feet Ring Road on Tuesday morning following heatstroke and dehydration. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The temperature of the city crossed 43 degree Celsius on Tuesday prompting the weather department to issue an yellow alert for next week in Rajkot. According to weather officials, the soaring temperature is expected to continue till June 3.

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has issued an advisory to the citizens keeping in view the hot weather and has asked the people not to step out of their office or house during noon time if not required urgently. The civic body has also started distribution of water at various places of the city. RMC health officer Pankaj Rathod said, “Citizens are advised to intake fluids to avoid dehydration.”
The city police has made special arrangements to provide water and buttermilk to the traffic cops standing on the road. A special van has been arranged to distribute fluids to the traffic police staff standing on the road in the scorching weather.
