Surat: A thief was caught and allegedly beaten up by people in Maroli village of Navsari district late on Monday evening. However, no official complaint has been registered yet in the case.
According to eyewitnesses, a three-member gang of Siklikar thieves entered the boiler room of Maroli Sugar Cooperative factory on Monday evening. One of them, identified as Gurbatsinh Sarbatsinh Shikligar, got caught by the workers who tied him up to a tree and thrashed him mercilessly in the sugar factory compound.
The public included the present chairman of Maroli Sugar, Pravinsinh Thakore. However, the incident didn’t come to light as nobody approached the police to register any complaint. A video of the incident went viral on social media on Tuesday morning which alerted the state control room. It asked Navsari police to look in the matter and ask Maroli police station to register a complaint. But, till late on Tuesday evening, no complaint had been registered.
All attempts to contact GS Rana in charge SP of Navsari and local official RS Garasiya went in vain.
