Corpn reclaims OSR land at Prabu Nagar

Coimbatore: Reclaiming a parcel of land as reserved site, the city corporation installed a board on the land at Prabhu Nagar on Monday.
The action was taken in compliance with a Madras high court direction six months ago.
Earlier, TOI had carried a report explaining how the corporation had not taken any action despite the court direction.

Prabhu Nagar layout was formed in 1980 when Coimbatore was a municipality. Of the total 1.68 acres, 13.119 cents were earmarked as open reserved space (OSR) for public purpose as per the approval given by the directorate of town and country planning (DTCP).
However, the OSR site was sold by the promoter to another individual in 2007 for Rs 21.57 lakh which was then sold to seven other individuals through a power agent for Rs 61.34 lakh. The issued flared up only when the corporation refused to give building plan approval sought by purchasers. The petition filed by the individuals was disposed of in favour of the corporation in November 2018.
