A consultation on the draft list of polling booths for the local body elections was held at the Collectorate under Collector S.Malarvizhi on Monday. It was held with the participation of all recognised political party representatives here.
As per the draft list, there are a total of 2,342 wards and 1,671 polling booths in the district for the local bodies.
Dharmapuri with 33 wards will have 56 polling booths; Pennagaram town panchayat with 18 wards will have 20 booths; Paaparapatty, Kaarimangalam, Kadathur, P.Mallapuram, Paapireddypatty and Marandahalli town panchayats will have 15 wards and 15 polling booths each; Palacodde town panchayat will have 18 wards and 22 polling booths; Harur town panchayat will have 18 wards and 28 booths and Palacodde town panchayat will have 18 wards and 22 booths.
This entails a total of 159 wards and 175 polling booths for the municipality and town panchayats.
According to the draft list for panchayats, Dharmapuri panchayat union has 270 wards and 200 polling booths; Nallampalli panchayat union has 315 wards and 230 booths; Pennagaram union has 216 wards and 177 booths; Eriyur panchayat union has 105 wards and 94 booths;Harur panchayat union has 318 wards and 222 polling booths; Morappur panchayat union has 156 wards and 91 booths; Kadathur union has 204 wards and 122 polling booths; Karimangalam panchayat union has 279 wards and 200 polling booths; Paapireddypatty panchayat union has 177 wards and 130 booths and Palacodde panchayat union has 303 wards and 205 booths.
Political party representatives may lodge their objections in writing vis-à-vis the draft list of the wards and the booths for the local body elections.
