Against all odds: Visually impaired boy stares problem in the eyes

Nagpur: Satish Ukey, a student of Dr Ambedkar College secured 78.46% in HSC exam 2019. Despite being blind, Satish kept his motivation high and used books available in braille and audio recordings. He aspires to join a government job and will soon start preparation for competitive exams.
Satish stays in the city alone in a hostel as his parents, Dipak and Rupa Ukey, stay in Chichkheda in Bhandara district. He also completed his matriculation from Nagpur. He secured 510 marks. He further said, “History and English are my strong subjects and they accelerated my score. But I feel I could have performed better in economics.”

“I faced a lot of challenges in finding a writer. Many people agreed for the same in the beginning but backed out later. Finally, one Akanksha from Morris College helped me and I feel that she has helped me the most. She used to write everything I told her appropriately” he said.
He had to use two writers for his exams, one of them wrote five exams for him and other wrote one. He now wants to pursue BA from Ambedkar College.
