Porsche 935 Build Slot Goes For $1.7 Million, Or Double The Official Price

Porsche’s making only 77 units of the new 935 Clubsport, each priced from €701,948 ($785,998) in Germany (excluding tax). Deliveries are scheduled to begin next month, yet we already came across a build slot that’s being offered for sale.

Advertised on RaceCarsDirect, it will set its buyer back €1.5 million ($1,679,610), which is as much as a used Bugatti Veyron, Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren Senna etc.

The listing claims the car will be delivered on July 19, and it can still be specced with different options, but “only if you act quickly”.

Based on the 911 GT2 RS, the new 935 isn’t homologated for any racing series. It is instead Porsche’s way to pay tribute to the 935/78 classic, hence its retro-styled body and wheels, although the retro theme stops here, as the panels are made out of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), the LED lights were inspired by the 919 Hybrid LMP1 and the side mirrors from the 911 RSR, whereas the 1968 908 served as the inspiration for the tailpipes, which are titanium-crafted.

This is a single-seater whose interior has been stripped down to basics and fitted with a 911 GT3 R carbon fiber steering wheel and digital instrument cluster. The entire cockpit screams racing through its air vents and features a Recaro seat with six-point harness, roll cage and others. It also gets air conditioning so that the sweat problem can be eliminated and, for an extra penny, Porsche can fit a passenger seat so you can take someone along for a ride.

Tipping the scales at 1,380 kg (3,042 lbs), the modern 935 uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six rated at 700 PS (690 hp / 514 kW), which is coupled to a seven-speed PDK gearbox.
