Kanpur: Man hides religion, marries twice, kin arrested

KANPUR: The father and brother of one Danish Ali, an accused in cases of impersonation for marriage registered by two women from Madhya Pradesh, were arrested from Jajmau on Sunday.
Shahid Ali and Sharique Ali allegedly threatened one of the victims with dire consequences on Saturday after she tried to approach a senior police officer for intervention in her case.
Danish, who wooed the women under false names like John Saluja and Raj Upadhyay, is on the run. SP East Raj Kumar Agarwal said a team had been formed to arrest him.

According to the complainant, a resident of Hoshangabad in MP, Danish married her as John Saluja at an Arya Samaj temple in Kanpur on August 31, 2009, but she later came to know he was a Muslim. "After marriage, he (Danish) tried to convince the woman to convert into Islam by showing her videos of Zakir Naik and IS chief Baghdadi but she did not agree. He beat her up and forced her into abortion," the FIR. stated.
