Clean hands regularly to prevent spread of diarrhea, tell doctors

CHANDIGARH: In view of Intensified Diarrhea Control Program from Tuesday, the staff of Civil Dispensary Sec 49 delivered a health awareness talk at Government Model High School sector 49. The talk was delivered by Dr. Kirtan Rana, senior resident, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The talk was attended by around 50 students along with their teachers. The talk was delivered to raise the awareness regarding potential sources which can cause diarrhea. The students were told not to eat anything from roadside vendors and not to eat without cleaning their hands properly with soap and water.
The students were taught hand hygiene and conditions when to wash hands. A demonstration of Oral Rehydration Solution preparation was also shown to the students. The students were also taught, how to prepare rehydration solution using home ingredients. The students were also told about the benefits of rehydration therapy and Zinc in case of diarrhea. Finally, the session was concluded by swearing oath and answering the queries of the students regarding diarrhea and its management.
