HYDERABAD: The police have solved the mystery behind the May 20 accident in which the body of a DCM van driver was found three kilometres away from Hamidullah Nagar on Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Shamshabad, where the accident occurred.
On May 20 night, a police patrol party came across a DCM, which had met with an accident but there were no one inside.

When they went ahead they found a dead body on the road side at Pedda Golconda, which is part of Rachakonda Commissionerate. The victim was identified as G Yedukondalu.
Police have now learnt that the van had hit a trailer from behind. The driver was flung out breaking the windshield, and had landed on the trailer which was carrying iron rods.
“The driver of the trailer was unaware of the accident, and was alerted by other motorists on the ORR about a person lying injured at the tail-end of the trailer,” Cyberabad police said.
The police verified CCTV footages at toll gates, and traced the trailer driver and contacted him. He is now a suspect in the case. Interestingly, the facts disclosed by him are different from what was assumed by the police. The police had earlier believed that the body might have slipped down while the trailer was on the move.
The trailer driver said he got intimidated on seeing a body with blood all over it. He removed it from the trailer and dropped it by the roadside, before fleeing.
Initially, police had found a bleak CCTV footage, which showed the victim falling on the trailer, which was on the move.

Cyberabad commissioner of police, VC Sajjanar, has formed a special team of traffic police to track hit-and-run cases, and this case, like many others, was cracked after analysing CCTV footages.
The police said that the suspect is being questioned and on Tuesday they will take a call whether to declare him as an accused or not. They are probing whether it was the fault of the victim or the trailer driver, which led to the accident. The police are trying to find out whether the DCM was over-speeding and the driver had to suddenly apply brakes.
