MLA assures stranded youths of help

Manglauru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath has assured 35 youths from Mangaluru, who have reportedly been stranded in Kuwait, of rendering help for their safe return to India.

One among the 35 youths posted a video clip on WhatsApp recently revealing their plight in Kuwait. In the video, the youths said that a recruiting firm collected ₹ 65,000 from each one of them with a promise of getting them jobs in Kuwait. They landed in Kuwait in January this year and since then, have been stranded there without salary and jobs. They said that they have been cheated by the firm. They appealed to Mr. Kamath for help.

In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Kamath said that the stranded youths want to return to India and he has spoken to them thrice. He (the MLA) contacted his friend Raj Bhandary and Bharatiya Pravasi Parishat and they have come forward to arrange for food and shelter for the youths till they will left Kuwait for India.

Mr. Kamath said that he has secured details of the youths and sent them to the External Affairs Ministry and to the Chief Secretary of the State. Member of Parliament-elect Nalin Kumar Kateel and Bengaluru North Member of Parliament-elect and former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda are following up the issue with the External Affairs Ministry. Both are in touch with the Ministry.
