LUCKNOW: Four of the six tabulation charts of Lucknow University, recovered by police after the marksheet racket was unearthed, have been found to be original and the others were forged, said a report submitted by LU to police on Monday.
Police had on April 18 arrested six persons, including a serving clerk and a former employee of the university, and recovered the tabulation charts along with 26
fake marksheets of different institutions.
During verification, LU found that all the six tabulation charts were of girls’ colleges, two of
Isabella Thoburn College and four of Mahila PG Vidyalaya. Of these, four — one of IT and three of Mahila PG — were found to have been stolen from LU’s examination department.
Tabulation charts are documents that keep permanent record of scores of candidates. These charts are used for verification of marksheets in future. LU keeps year-wise tabulation charts of its various departments as well as those of associated colleges.
The three original tabulation charts of Mahila PG college were of BEd (2000), BCom II (2009) and BCom III (2010). The tabulation chart of IT College was of MA I, geography (1999). The two forged charts were of IT College MA I, geography (2010) and MA II, geography (2009).
LU registrar SK Shukla said the verification report has been sent to police and the university was preparing a list of examination officials under whose custody the missing original charts were kept since 1999. “As the matter is under investigation, the remaining findings cannot be disclosed. We are offering full support to police in investigation,” he added.
