PANCHKULA: An attempt to stop a fight between youngsters left a man with bullet injuries in Pinjore on Saturday night in another gun crime in less than 10 days in the district.
The victim has been identified as Pawan Kumar alias Goli, a resident of Saini Mohalla, Pinjore. He is stated to be out of danger. He tried to stop three men from attacking 18-year-old Tinku, his neighbour.
Tinku alleged that he was standing outside his house around 6 pm on Saturday, when his neighbour Maninder Singh alias Manni, and one more person arrived on a motorcycle. He alleged both tried to stare him out, prompting Tinku to go inside his house. The two then left.
Around 10.30 pm, when Tinku was standing near a shop, Maninder and one Piyush Piplani came on an Enfield Bullet motorcycle bearing registration number HR-49-1222 and stopped near him. Tinku alleged both started arguing with him over an old dispute, asking him not to cross their paths. He said Pawan intervened, trying to stop the fight. In the meantime, Piyush allegedly took out a pistol and pointed it at the forehead of Tinku, leading to his father Vishal Kumar and uncle Subhash stepping out of their houses. However, Piyush threatened to kill Tinku if they came in between. When more people gathered at the spot, Piyush panicked and opened fire while fleeing. The bullet grazed past the shoulder of Pawan. He was taken to a hospital.
Police were called to the spot. Tinku handed over three live cartridges and one bullet shell to the cops. Police registered a case under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (act done by several person with same intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Pinjore police station.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Anand Kumar, the investigating officer, said, “We have registered a case. The accused would be arrested soon.”
