Bugatti Displays Bespoke La Voiture Noire At Villa d’Este Show

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire one-off was recently put on show at Villa d’Este in Italy and, naturally, drew crowds unlike any other vehicle at the event.

The bespoke hypercar, officially the world’s most expensive new car, was unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show back in March and is based on the Divo. It costs $19 million, and while no confirmation has been made about who owns the car, it is believed to have been purchased by former VW head honcho Ferdinand Piech, not Christiano Ronaldo as rumored for a while.

Bugatti built the car as a homage to the Type 57 SC Atlantic, and more specifically one which has been missing for decades. La Voiture Noire is French for ‘The Black Car’ and the name is certainly fitting.

Compared to the Chiron and Divo, the one-off’s exterior is radically different. There is all-new, handcrafted carbon fiber bodywork which includes a bespoke front fascia and a windscreen and side windows which were inspired by the visor of a helmet, while at the rear you will find a single LED light bar and six exhaust pipes.

Bugatti has only built a single prototype of the La Voiture Noire that doesn’t feature the 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 but a small electric motor that allows it to be driven around at slow speeds instead. During an interview with Carscoops earlier this year, Bugatti head of communications Tim Bravo said the final car is still approximately two to two-and-a-half years away from being delivered.
