Autopsy confirms gau rakshak had hanged himself

Belagavi: The postmortem report of Shivkumar Balram Uppar, 19, of Ankalagi in Gokak taluk, a gau rakshak, has stated that he committed suicide, and was not killed. Shivkumar’s body was found hanging in the APMC yard in Hirebagewadi in Belagavi taluk on Sunday morning. Police arrested two persons who posted the body’s picture on social media terming it as a murder. The post went viral within a few hours and even MPs Shobha Karandlaje and Suresh Angadi tweeted about the case forcing the state government to take the case seriously.
On Monday evening, SP Sudheerkumar Reddy shared the postmortem report with media persons and clarified that it wasn’t a murder but suicide.
Angadi then deleted two of his tweets posted on Sunday. In a new tweet on Monday, he said the postmortem report confirmed that Shivkumar’s death was a suicide and urged people not to forward fake news. TNN
