AHMEDABAD: Vadaj police on Sunday arrested a
19-year-old man for raping a girl at her residence in Vadaj on Saturday afternoon. The accused was reportedly angry after his break-up with another girl for which he blamed the complainant. The accused was the complainant’s classmate and she even used to tie rakhi on his wrist.
The victim, a second-year student of chartered accountancy, stated in her FIR with Vadaj police that the accused, Amay Upadhyay, a resident of Naranpura, even subjected her to unnatural sex at her residence.
The FIR states that the complainant knew Upadhyay since the time they studied together in a school in class 10. “We were very good friends, we used hang out, and Upadhyay even came to my house very often,” said the complainant in the FIR.
On Saturday, when the complainant’s mother and her younger brother were not at home, she called Upadhyay and told him to meet her as she wanted to clear some misconceptions that he had about his break-up.
“After he reached home, he was so angry with me that he pulled my hair, slapped me, forced me to perform oral sex on him,” the complainant said.
Then he pinned her down to the floor, removed her trousers, and raped her. After this, the complainant asked him to leave her house. But as the accused did not budge, she ran out of the house.
Vadaj police booked the accused under IPC section 376 for rape and conducted a medical examination of him and the complainant.
