AGRA: A 14-year-old girl was killed after three heavily inebriated men engaged in a
scuffle with the
victim’s father and fired bullet from a country-made pistol, which hit her face.
The incident took place at around 10pm in Saprin village of Sahori gram panchayat which comes under Jaithra police jurisdiction of
UP's
Etah district. The victim was identified as Shikha Singh, student of Class X.
Based on the victim’s father Mohar Singh Shakya written complaint, an FIR was lodged against three men identified as Virender, Sunpal and Nanhe Singh who are neighbours of the victim. The trio were booked under IPC sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntary causing hurt) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
According to police, the two groups had old enmity and engaged in stone-pelting on Sunday night before Shikha was shot dead by one of the accused. At present the three named men are absconding.
Mohar Singh Shakya, the victim’s father, said, “We were sleeping in our house, when Virender, Sunpal and Nange attempted to barge inside our house. The three were heavily drunk and were verbally abusing us. When I confronted them, they started pelting stones and so did we. Later, one of the men took out pistol with an intention to kill us and fired shot. The bullet hit my daughter on her face while she was coming downstairs. She later succumbed in hospital.”
“Earlier too the three men have engaged in scuffle and often harassed my family,” alleged Mohar Singh Shakya.
Speaking to TOI, Sanjay Kumar, additional superintendent of police, Etah, said, “The two groups have old enmity history. Two days back during a wedding ceremony they had engaged in scuffle. They also blamed each other for damaging power cables of public street lights. On Sunday night, Mohar’s daughter was shot dead. The accused are absconding, but police teams are searching for their whereabouts to nab them.”
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Saprin village after Shikha’s death. On Monday evening, her body was handed over to her parents after autopsy for last rites.
