Students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), along with other institutes designed Go-Kart cars during the industrial training camp.
The electric and IC engine cars designed by the budding engineers with scrap came on to the road on Sunday. IIIT Director D. Suryachandra Rao and administrative officer T. Sunil Bhagawat observed the new designs tested on the campus.
All terrain vehicles
About 75 mechanical students of IIIT, along with the Anna University Chennai, NIT Triruchirappalli,SRKR Engineering College, Bhimavaram, Lakkireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering (LBRCE) and IIIT D&M, Kancheepuram, students are participating in the industrial internship training camp. RGUKT IIIT, in association with AMZ Automotive Company, is conducting the programme from May 15 to June 3, said camp coordinator Y. Naidu Babu.
The management is organising the 21-day internship training workshop with the cooperation of RGUKT Chancellor V. Ramachandra Raju.
“We designed two models and fabrication of single and double seater all terrain vehicles (ATV) are under process,” said students P. Durga Devi and T.L. Raju, who developed the models.
AMZ Industries, Jaipur, senior research associate, Rahul Ranjan, who is guiding the students, said a team of engineers from the automotive company are helping the students in designing, developing and manufacturing the new models.
“The single and double seater model cars are being designed with scrap and the vehicles will come on to the road soon. The summer internship workshop will help us acquire practical knowledge and help us to work on different models with expertise in the field,” said two other mechanical engineering students— T. Akhila and J. Charles Finny.
Head of Mechanical Engineering department, Shaik Basha said students got a chance to design and develop models on their own ideas and study on different projects during the programme.
