Governor P. Sathasivam on Monday appointed Sabu Thomas, Professor, School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, as the Vice Chancellor of the university. The appointment is for a period of four years from the date on which he assumes office.
Prof. Thomas was unanimously recommended for the post by a search committee comprising Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya Vice Chancellor Sushma Yadav (UGC nominee), Kerala State Planning Board Vice Chairman V.K. Ramachandran (senate representative), and Chief Secretary Tom Jose, convener of the panel.
He is credited with having a H-index of 72 (on the SCOPUS database) and has authored 750 publications. He also has five patents in his name and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London.
