Soldier from Haveri injured in Jammu and Kashmir dies

HAVERI: A 26-year-old soldier who suffered injuries fighting infiltrators in Jammu and Kashmir last week succumbed to injuries at Army Hospital Research and Referral in New Delhi on Sunday.
The district administration has decided to accord state funeral for the martyred soldier, Shivalingeshwar Patil, from Gundenahalli village of Byadagi taluk. The body is expected to arrive in the village by Monday.
Shivalingeshwar followed in his father Veerabhadrappa's footsteps and joined the army in the year 2012 upon his insistence. The young soldier is survived by ex-serviceman-father, mother Nagaratna, sister Deepa and brother Shivakumar.
Family will donate eyes

The jawan's family members will donate his eyes as per his wish.
Deputy commissioner Krishna Bajpai said that they received information about the soldier's death from his family and the Army was yet to communicate the same.
