Fake Twitter ID created in my name, says Dutee

Bhubaneswar: Sprinter Dutee Chand on Monday alleged that someone had opened a fake Twitter account in her name after she recently revealed that she was in a same-sex relationship.
The 23-year-old athlete, who became the first Indian sportsperson to reveal that she was homosexual, said, “I was not very active on Twitter on the advice of my counsel. But I have come to know that someone has created a handle in my name ever since I revealed my same-sex relationship. The person keeps tweeting many things which I don’t own. I have clarified it from my original id,” said India’s fastest woman.
Dutee’s actual handle — @DuteeChand — is not verified. The fake account — @Dutee_Chand — has been in use since May 19 and has 1,575 followers, including many who themselves have verified accounts.
“Someone has opened a fake ID with my name. I will request everyone following me on @Twitter to ignore tweets from any other handle claiming to be me. This is my original twitter handle. Thank you for your consistent support!” Dutee tweeted from @DuteeChand.

Asked whether she has reported the matter to police, she said, “I will wait for some more days. If the mischief continues, I will take action according to law.”
Dutee’s revelation about her relationship angered her family members but the Asian Games medal winner has also received appreciation from many national and international icons after revealing that she is a lesbian.
