JIND: The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed the Rohtak range inspector general of police (IGP) to launch a fresh investigation into a seven-year-old case of double murder of wife and adopted son of a Border Security Force (BSF) trooper. The case has been a puzzle for the Jind police, who are yet to identify the culprits.
The court of Ramendra Jain also directed IGP Sandeep Khirwar to submit the investigation report within three months to the court, and instructed the investigation officer to hand over all probe-related documents to the IGP.
On August 20, 2012, the wife and adopted son of trooper Kewal Singh were found brutally murdered in Pokeri Kheri village of district Jind. Then SP Ashok Kumar and CIA in-charge Virender Kharb had investigated the case, but were unable to crack it. Thereafter, the aggrieved family approached the court.
Earlier, the family members had also met the former director-general of police (DGP) and urged the Haryana home department to push for a speedy investigation into the case.

Talking to TOI over phone, the brother of the bereaved BSF jawan, Wazir Singh, who is serving in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), said, “We demand a CBI investigation. The police have so far failed to solve the case.”
IGP Khirwar, who visited the crime spot on May 22, said that an SIT comprising two officers has been formed and the police are also asking the public to share any information regarding the case. “Currently, the case is under my observation after the direction of the high court,” the IGP added.
