Vadodara: A diesel engine got derailed near platform number one of Vadodara railway station late on Sunday night.
The empty engine was in movement when its front wheel got derailed. According to officials of Vadodara railway division, the engine was to be attached to the Hazrat Nizamuddin-Trivandrum Rajdhani Express once the train arrives at Vadodara railway station.
The train arrives at Vadodara railway station at around 10.22 pm.
“Before the train reached Vadodara railway station, the engine was in movement as it was to be attached to the train once the train reached Vadodara railway station. But before that the engine got derailed,” said Khemraj Meena, PRO of Vadodara railway division.
The engine got derailed at around 10.02 pm and it was re-railed at around 11.45 pm. “There was no impact on movement of other trains as there was already a block declared on platform number one for carrying out maintenance and repair works,” he said.
Diesel engines of trains are attached at Vadodara railway station for trains having their onward journey on the Konkan route. The Rajdhani train however got delayed by 10 minutes.
“We had immediately called for accident relief train and hydraulic machines were used to re-rail the engine,” he said. “But before the engine was re-railed, when the train reached Vadodara railway station, it was allowed to continue its onward journey with ten minutes delay. The train continued with the electric locomotive till it reached Vasai Road railway station where the electric locomotive was changed and a diesel engine was attached to it,” he said.
