EPIC WARRIOR WOMEN Series premiere ★★★½
7.30pm, SBS
The legend of the Amazonian warriors is partly validated by archaeological breakthroughs that prove that a good portion of the Scythian soldiers of 6th-Century central Asia were female. Some aspects of folklore are put into historical perspective, while a dramatisation imagines tribal life. Most interesting are the descendants of the Scythians, including the star of The Eagle Huntress, Aisholpan Nurgaiv, through whom we catch a glimpse of enduring nomadic life.
THE VOICE ★★★
7.30pm, Nine
It’s little wonder that after this many TV singing contests, some of the big fish from Australia’s vocal talent pool are being recycled. Three such acts rock up to these Blind Auditions – one who placed third in Idol 15 years ago, one whose radio show got axed and a trio dumped from The Voice by controversial judge, Jessie J. Then there is the fresh blood, some of which will knock your socks off.
HARROW ★★★½
8.30pm, ABC
Jolene Anderson’s Dr Grace Molyneaux contributes much more than UST to this forensic procedural. Her presence alongside Ioan Gruffudd’s Dr Daniel Harrow has turned this one-man whodunit into a partnership, much to the irritation of the curmudgeonly copper (the magnificently dry Damien Garvey). It’s just a tad disappointing that her biggest contribution to the case of a bricked-up corpse is her knowledge of ’90s fashion.
