Four persons were killed in a multiple vehicle collision near Sooramangalam here on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Sadiq Basha (46), his son Rahmat Basha (17), Ramesh (26) and Balu (35) – all residents of Kanjanaikenpatty here.
According to police, the incident happened when the four were returning in a mini van along with cattle. Police said the a truck moving in front of them slowed down suddenly. To avoid collision, Sadiq Basha, the mini van driver, also slowed down his vehicle. Another truck, which was behind, rammed into the mini van and in the impact the vehicle got stuck between the trucks.
Rahmat Basha, Ramesh and Balu died on the spot. Sadiq Basha died on the way to the hospital. In the accident, the cattle suffered injuries and it was taken to a veterinary hospital.
Sooramangalam police have registered a case and investigating. Police are on the lookout for the driver of the truck which led to the accident as he fled from the accident spot.
