Hot Rods And Electric Motors Are A Match Made In Heaven

Even anyone not remotely interested in cars knows that the age of Ultron electric cars is upon us – but electric hot rods?

The term hot rod first gained popularity in the 1950s and was used to denote vehicles in the United States which were modified with potent engines to make them faster. The age of electrification has seen an increasing number of people in the aftermarket world outfitting tradition ICE cars with all-electric powertrains thanks to the immense power and torque figures delivered by these motors.

In a bid to see what an all-electric vehicle with a design inspired by the classic hot rods of the ’50s which kick-started the world of modifying cars, designers Jason Battersby and Klaud Wasiak have dreamt up this creation.

Dubbed the Erode 002, the concept has a classic hot rod shape with a slender body, no roof, and open front and rear wheels. There are also exposed suspension components at the front end. The exterior incorporates a number of modern elements, including an LED light bar stretching the width of the rear and a pair of thin wing mirrors. A set of eye-catching red five-spoke wheels complete the exterior look.

As for the interior, it looks like an amazing place to sit. For starters, there are two thin bucket seats with bright red seats. You may also notice a floating digital instrument cluster directly in front of the two-spoke steering wheel. The car also includes a small infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard.

There isn’t any mention of the electric powertrain driving the car but we can’t imagine it weighs very much meaning it would likely feel quite brisk no matter how much power it has.
