From the single girls’ comedy school of Bridget Jones comes this series about a lowly Irish copywriter (co-creator Amy Huberman) who farts in public and gets dog poo all over her pyjamas when answering the door to delivery guys. The script at times feels as clumsy as the eponymous Joy, whose method of overcoming heartbreak is to stoically carry on. Her new job as a “happiness vlogger” might offer a diversion via exploration of the happiness myth.

With her overnight success story and infectious charm, local lass Poh Ling Yeow should provide as much inspiration to the contestants as the most recent international celebrity guests, Nigella Lawson and Yotam Ottolenghi. Poh arrives just in time for the end of Secrets Week, in which the blindfolds come on and someone goes out. It’s a tougher choice than usual for the judges, when the final dishes all turn out tremendously well.

One line in this 1992 Harrison Ford espionage adventure places it in an era to which the portal has forever closed. James Earl Jones’ Admiral Greer says to Ford’s CIA analyst, Jack Ryan: “There’s never been a terrorist attack on American soil, Jack.” In their world, the biggest threat to world peace is the IRA. After Jack stymies an assassination attempt, his family becomes a target. This is classic '90s heroics, co- starring Anne Archer and Samuel L. Jackson.
